Are you a Princess or a Pioneer?

"In one of the books I was reading recently, there was an offhand comment about how there are really only two kinds of women: the princess and the pioneer. I was struck by the wisdom and insight in this observation, and the more I thought about it, the more it seems to really sum up how women generally handle life. We either are the kind who are willing to roll up our sleeves and dive into the business at hand, even if it is something we have never done before; or we are looking around for the people who are going to be taking care of us." (Nancy Wilson, Femina, April 24, 2008)

Sounds right initially...but it also seems like one of those all-encompassing categorical statements that the Wilsons love to make! I'll be thinking about that one for a few days!!

Since I have a bit of a bipolar slant on most of life, I can see myself in both catagories. At the store, I'm working and decisive! At home, I'm more hesitant, and, if I'm honest, love to be taken care of. It's not completely my fault. Darrell is sooo good at it! It is food for thought. Love you. Mom

Yes to both of you. I think I am one way in a certain context and the other way in a different context. It sure did make me think and it made me want to strive to roll up my sleeves and get to work. It takes too much energy to sit around waiting, worrying, or expecting someone else taking care of me. It's so much better to smile and get on with the business of getting on with life!
